Fundraising: A National School Challenge
Durham, N.H. – ChildVoice International (CVI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping heal the scars of war left on children and their families. CVI partners with local non-governmental organizations to help them bring shelter, education, and other vital resources to children who have been devastated by the atrocities of war. In February CVI launched a new project called Voices-Rising, which will focus on reaching out to college and high school age students to join the fight against poverty and suffering of children affected by violence. Voices-Rising is a project that helps student chapters around the nation and around the world to raise funds and awareness about this important cause.

By using the online social networks of facebook and MySpace, students involved in the challenge will be able to meet and converse with their peers and about the challenge and the cause. Voices-Rising is by youth for youth with administrative assistance from CVI. Project co-founder, Oxfam Youth Ambassador, and Dollars for Darfur co-founder Nick Anderson says, "I was inspired to start this project, because I have seen first hand how war can devastate the lives of children and I wanted to create a project that focused specifically on helping youth get back on their feet." These sentiments were echoed by Evan Abrams the other project co-founder and member of the Dollars for Darfur National Student Advisory Board, "Youth are the future of this world and it is time we stop ignoring their needs and help to build towards a more peaceful tomorrow."
The two high school students are the creators and spokespeople for the challenge, which Nick calls an extension of his previous work, "I have been involved with projects all over the world and for a variety of different causes and these experiences have led me to believe that supporting youth is the most important step the humanitarian world can take." The two teens are seniors at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Massachusetts.
