About Voices Rising
A Campaign of ChildVoice International
September 1st to December 15th 2008
What ChildVoice International Does: It supports children who have been severely affected by these events, partnering with local groups in Uganda and with international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to bring much needed aid. In fact, ChildVoice International is constructing a center in Northern Uganda to provide housing, education, vocational training, and microfinance loans to build businesses for these children and teens. The children helped include former child soldiers, orphans, and those left impoverished by the war. In addition, parenting skills and early childhood education are offered to young mothers-many of whom became pregnant as victims of rape during the war. With all of these programs, ChildVoice International's goal is to someday reintegrate these displaced people back into society. Thus, the village will not be dependant upon other communities, but in a setting where farmland will allow the community to be self-sufficient.

What you can do: Let Your Voice Be Heard!
ChildVoice International is launching a campaign both to educate teens and young adults about the situation in Northern Uganda and to raise funds to make the village a reality. Register here to create a Voices Rising chapter at your middle school, high school, or college/university. With the help of CVI, Voices Rising Chapters will be able to develop and carry out projects that will both raise funds and awareness of the situation. Participating schools will receive special bonuses, such as discounted merchandise, regular newsletters, and special prizes for reaching benchmarks in fundraising. Visit our Facebook and MySpace websites to hear what other schools are doing for the campaign. The campaign will end on December 15th. |

ChildVoice International is a Christian, nonprofit humanitarian organization whose mission is to assist child victims of war around the world through advocacy, research, and effective demonstration projects.
We work in war-torn countries with local non-government organizations to assist children of war, restoring the voices of children who have been silenced by the horrors they have experienced. Through collaborating with NGOs, we empower children to regain their voices through sanctuary, education, therapy to address psychosocial and spiritual needs, childcare and parenting skills where needed, vocational training, and microfinance loans to build businesses.
The children served by ChildVoice International and partnering grassroots NGOs include former child soldiers, children orphaned by war, and those left destitute by rebel activity.
